Here is one of my dollar store DIY projects. I am in love with this candle "crate" and want to make several more. It was easy, fun, and best of all, CHEAP!
I bought 3 of these wooden box frames ($1 each) and 6 candles (3 for $1). These frames are meant to hang on the wall and hold miniatures. I found them in the crafts section of the Dollar Tree.
Spray paint 2 of the frames silver and 1 of them white. Remove the hooks off the backs.
Glue them together with the white frame in the middle. I used super glue because I had that on hand, but any strong glue or wood glue would work. If you use super glue, you have to get them in position fast because you won't be able to move them after about 2 seconds! Lay something heavy on top like bricks and let dry.
When it is dry, spay with a coat of clear enamel, if desired.
Places candles into top frame!

Use your new candle crate for the 4th of July and when the holiday is over, you can replace these candles with any color you'd like. I think this will look great at Christmas time. I love my new candle crate and no one will know it all started at the dollar store.
Well....except you guys :)

Thanks, JHill!
This is great! I too used to avoid the dollar stores but since changing my mindset when going in, you'd be surprised what you'd find. And your project is proof of that! :)
This turned out great! I love that you used three boxes and with different colors.
I am hosting a giveaway and would love it if you checked it out!

Oh I love how those came together! Great Job :)
Great idea! I love the "stacked" look!
Ok now that is brilliant. I love how you stacked them. Change the colors of candle for a new season. Did you find those at the Dollar tree? I am so going there!
Infarrantly - yes - got everything at The Dollar Tree! Thanks so much for the comment.
I love this!
I want to feature it on my blog 6/30 if you don't mind! Fabulous idea!!

simplydesigning - that would be great. Thanks a bunch!
That is what I love about blogging!! Seeing everyone's creativity. I saw the wooden box frames & thought what could I do with that. Nothing came to me. So I didn't get one. I may now have to go back. I hope they still have them.
Kim - I agree. I love getting inspiration from all the blogs!!! Now, go get some of those frames before they are gone!
Now that is cute! I the stripe effect you got by putting the white one in the middle.
I was just in our Dollar Tree, and I have to say, I don't think they're all created equally. They didn't have any of those.
Hi Suzanne. Sorry they didn't have the frames. Maybe you could ask next time you are in there. They usually have a ton of stuff in the back that they are continually putting out. At my Dollar Tree, these were on a bottom shelf. Not by the picture frames - over where they carry a few "crafty" items. It's kind of strange where they have things located. That's why I just walk done every aisle and look carefully as to not miss anything!
What a great project. I never would've thought of it.
I'm hosting Fab Finds for the Fourth this Thursday for crafts, decor, recipes or anything else for July 4. Hope you'll stop by!
This is sooooo cute! I love this idea!!!
