Home Decor: Using What you Have

It really is amazing what you can find in your own house or garage that can be used for home decor. Look around your home with a creative mind - could that stool or bench be used for something else? Could that dusty old shelf in the basement be revived with a fresh coat of paint? I have started doing this lately and I can't believe some of the stuff I have found. Jars make pretty vases, old art becomes new in a freshly painted frame. Before you go out and buy something new, take a look around and see if there is a different possibility right under your nose.

Jars make great vases and containers.

If you have a large blank wall that you don't know what to do with, consider framing up some wallpaper! Wallpaper comes in a wide variety and in all styles. And forget buying an expensive frame. Get some trim moulding cut to the proper size at Home Depot and paint it white. This makes for a dramatic (but inexpensive) piece of wall art. Cool, huh?

We have Legos everywhere. I find them in the bathroom, dryer and in my bed. My kids love Legos and they would sooo love this table. Ok - these are totally cool. I am always looking for something different to hang on the wall. The same ol' artwork in frames gets to be b.o.r.i.n.g. I came across this idea on a wedding site - yes, I am happily married but still look at wedding sites for creative ideas:) This is the coolest thing - vertical terrariums!
