Make your own Home Spa Treatments

Dry Skin Treatment : Honey Masque - If your skin leans to the dry side, you know that commercial products can cause drying, flaking and sometimes irritation. Instead of chemicals, try a simply honey mask – it will leave your skin feeling supple, yet tightened. Spread room-temperature honey on clean skin, avoiding your eyes, and leave it for 20 minutes. Rinse well with warm, not hot, water and pat dry.

Oily Skin Facial: Oatmeal & Strawberry Mask - Oilier skin types can benefit from a mask made out of oatmeal and strawberries: Strawberries help zap extra oil while clarifying; oatmeal gently moisturizes without adding extra oil. Blend a handful each of berries and rolled oats in a food processor, adding water as needed, to make it into a thick paste. Spread it onto your skin with a circular massaging motion and leave for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

All Over Body Polish: Olive Oil & Sugar - Winter skin takes some effort to shed, doesn’t it? A quality exfoliation session is what it needs to go from blah to glistening with life, just in time for baring in the summer sun. For ultra-dry areas, mix a couple of tablespoons of olive oil with regular white sugar and massage it into scaly spots in a semi-steamy shower. Rinse well and follow your shower with a nourishing body lotion while your skin’s still wet. If you’re not an ultra-dry lady, skip the olive oil and just use water and sugar.

Add Shine to your Hair: Baking Soda - There’s nothing worse than a dull mane. Build-up can come from styling products, environmental pollution, hard-water pipes and even not rinsing out conditioner completely. Thankfully, it’s quick and easy to zap this extra layer of sludge: mix a teaspoon of baking soda into your shampoo and massage it throughout your hair before rinsing it out with warm water.

Dry Hair Treatment: Avocado - Did you know that over moisturizing with chemical-laden conditioners can actually make your hair drier and frizzier? Seek nature’s aide with a mask made of a super-ripe mashed avocado (if your hair is very long, you might need two). Get all of the lumps out and smooth it through your entire mane, starting from the ends and working your way up. Leave it in for 20-30 minutes and then follow up with lots of rinsing and a gentle shampoo.
